Rahul Dravid

Rahul Sharad Dravid (nicknamed "The Wall" ), ( born January 11, 1973 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India ) is an Indian cricketer. A jury of Wisden Cricketers ' Almanack named him in 2000 as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In 2004 he was elected by the ICC, both to the player of the year as well as the Test Player of the Year.

Career

His Test debut for India celebrated Rahul Dravid in June 1996 against England in London. He was after Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar, the third Indian cricketer and the sixth player worldwide, who scored at least 10,000 runs during his Test career. His 10000th run he reached in his 120th Test. This was played in Chennai against South Africa in March 2008. His debut for the Indian One Day International cricket team he celebrated against Sri Lanka on 3 April 1996 in Singapore. Even in ODIs he has cracked the 10,000 runs mark. He succeeded in February 2007 in a match against Sri Lanka. This makes it next to Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar one of only five cricketers who achieved at least 10000 runs in Tests and ODIs at. For the Indian team Dravid participated in three Cricket World Cups ( 1999, 2003 and 2007). At the World Cup in 1999, he was with 461 runs scored the top scorer of the tournament.
