Brian Lara

Brian Charles Lara AM, TC (nicknamed " The Prince of Port-of -Spain " ) ( born 2 May 1969 in Santa Cruz, Trinidad and Tobago ) is a former cricket player, who in encounters in Test cricket and in One Day International Cricket matches ( ODI) played for the team of the West Indies. He is considered one of the most successful batsmen in the history of cricket.

Records

Lara improved during his career, twice the world record for the most points scored ( runs ) in a Test match innings. His first record he took when testing the West Indies against England in 1994, he scored 375 runs. His second record he won in 2004 in Antigua, again during a test against England. He scored 400 runs 'not out' and thus broke the meantime held by Australian Matthew Hayden record. Lara is so far the only player who was able to recapture the record for most runs scored in Test cricket.

Career

Lara played during his career total of 131 tests, in which he scored 11953 runs ( an average of 52.89 runs per withdrawal ). The Indians Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid and Australian Ricky Ponting is still the only players to have scored in test matches in total more runs. In addition, Brian Lara scored 34 Centuries (100 or more runs ) in Test innings. Only Sachin Tendulkar (51 ), Ricky Ponting (39) and Rahul Dravid (36 ) surpassed that mark more often. His Test debut, he celebrated on 6 December 1990 against Pakistan. Its last use in a test he had on 27 November 2006 also against Pakistan. Lara also played 299 One- Day International matches where he scored 10405 runs ( average 40.49 runs ). His first ODI match played Lara on November 9, 1990 against Pakistan. His last ODI he played on April 21, 2007 against England in the Cricket World Cup. Brian Lara also took the team to the West Indies to five Cricket World Cups (1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 ) in part. At club level played Brian Lara 1994 to 1998 in England for Warwickshire County Cricket Club, for which he runs 501 'not out' scored in a championship match in 1994 against Durham. He holds both the record for most runs scored in a test match, as well as the record for most runs scored in a first-class cricket match.

Honors

On September 14, 2012, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the ICC.
