2007 Cricket World Cup

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, which was held from 13 March to 28 April 2007 to the islands of the British West Indies, is the ninth tournament for the most important trophy in cricket. It is true even today the traditional Test cricket for five days as the highest form of play in cricket and as best cricket nation, the country must consider the gains the most success in test cricket over the years, but the most important single event is by far the World Cup, which has been held since 1975. World champion Australia, player of the tournament Glenn McGrath.

Format

All games were played in the one- day cricket format, that is, restricted to 50 over innings and one inning per team.

All games began at 09:30 local time clock, it being noted that Jamaica from central Europe time zone further away than any other venues. The first innings will now be at 09:30 - 13:00 set, the second at 13:45 to 17:15. As in major tournaments, an additional Gameday was common for all games provided for the case that it should be long rain delays; but the game is, if possible, if necessary with shortened innings, completed on the scheduled day. The field-proven Duckworth - Lewis Method is employed.

For the first time were 16 nations at this tournament, which will be held in eight countries of the English-speaking Caribbean.

Automatically qualify were the 10 Test cricket nations England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya, and also as to the time of the draw only country with an official One Day International status, the five qualifiers of the ICC Trophy 2005 in Ireland, namely Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Bermuda and the Netherlands.

From four preliminary round groups of four teams each, the first two for the intermediate rounds (Super 8 ), in which all qualifiers competed against each other in a group qualified, only the four results from the first round of these teams were to each other along. Finally, in the two semi-final matches of the first played against the fourth and the second against the third. The final took place on April 28 in Barbados, a game for 3rd place did not exist.

Preliminary round
