Rainbow Greens

The Verdi Arcobaleno ( Rainbow Green ) was an Italian Green Party, founded in May 1989 by the merger of part of the Democrats Proletaria ( including Mario Capanna and Edo Ronchi ), some members of the Radical Party ( including Francesco Rutelli, who later became mayor of Rome) and other environmental activists.

In June 1989 they took the name Verdi Arcobaleno per l'Europa ( Rainbow Green for Europe) in elections to the European Parliament and partly achieved while 2.4% of the votes and two seats ( MPs: Adelaide Aglietta and Virginio Bettini ). In December 1990, they went on in the Federazione dei Verdi.
