Rainer Hasler

Rainer Hasler ( born July 2, 1958 Vaduz ) is a former football player Liechtenstein. He is considered one of the greatest athletes of Liechtenstein, though he never played for the national football team of the principality.

Career

He played at right back for the Swiss clubs Neuchâtel Xamax Servette Geneva and. With the people of Geneva, where he spent two years as captain, he won the 1984 Swiss Cup and 1985 the national championship of the National League A. Another major success was with Xamax reaching the UEFA Cup quarter- finals in the 1981/82 season, where the team nearly at the Hamburger SV failed (0:0 / 2:3 ).

He played during his career, not once for the Liechtenstein national team. The reason he later stated that there were uncertainties in insurance matters. Also, the Liechtenstein team only began in the 1990s, after Hasler's retirement from professional sports, participate in international competitions.

In 1989, he finished at the age of only 31 years of his career.

In 2004 he was elected the 50-year anniversary as UEFA Golden Player of Liechtenstein to the best player Liechtenstein the last fifty years.
