Ralph Hansch

Ralph Lawrence Hansch ( born May 20, 1924 in Edmonton, Alberta, † 29 February 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Ralph Hansch played during his career as a professional ice hockey goaltender, among others, for the Edmonton Flyers and Camrose Maroons. With the Edmonton Mercurys, to which he came only a few months before the tournament, he represented Canada at the 1952 Winter Olympics. Following the Winter Games he finished his hockey career and became a firefighter.

Internationally

For Canada Hansch participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 in part in Oslo, where he won the gold medal with his team. During the tournament, he wore the shirt number 0 - the only hockey player in the Olympic history.
