Ralph of Tiberias

Called Rudolf of Saint- Omer, Rudolf of Tiberias (also Raoul or Ralph, * 1138, † 1219 ) was Seneschal of Jerusalem and Titularfürst of Galilee.

He is a younger son of Walter of Saint- Omer, Prince of Galilee, and his wife Eschiva of Bures.

After his father's death in 1178, the Principality of Galilee initially fell to the second husband of his mother Raymond III. of Tripoli, during whose tenure the Principality from the Ayyubid Sultan Saladin conquered. As Raimund death in the same year, inherited Rudolf's older brother Hugh II of Saint- Omer, only a Titularfürstentum. After his death in 1204 Rudolf inherited the Titularfürstentum in old age.

1194 he was appointed Seneschal of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. After the death of King Henry I of Jerusalem, he was proposed by his brother Hugo as a candidate Queen Isabella I to marry and to ascend the throne. However, his rival, King Amalric I of Cyprus was able to prevail against him. He was an eminent lawyer within the kingdom and created the beginning of 1198 was commissioned by King Amalric's new collection of laws Le Livre du Roi. He took part in the crusade of Damietta (fifth crusade ) and died in 1219 during the siege of the Egyptian port city.

1168 he married Agnes Garnier, daughter of Rainald Garnier, Count of Sidon. With her he had a daughter, Eschiva of Saint- Omer, who inherited the Titularfürstentum and Odo of Montbeliard, the constable of Jerusalem married and the Principality of 1240 as a result of the Crusade from 1239 to 1241 by a treaty with the Ayyubid Sultan as- Salih Ismail peacefully received back from Damascus.
