Ralung Monastery

The Ralung Monastery (Tib. ra tion dgon ) or Shedrub Chökhor Ling ( bshad sgrub chos ' khor gling ) is a monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu ( ' brug pa bka ' brgyud ), one of the so-called " eight smaller schools " of Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ). The monastery was founded in 1193 by Tsangpa Gyarepa ( 1161-1211 ), the first Gyelwang Drugpa, founded in the western Tibetan region Tsang. It is located in the municipality Ralung (ra tion ) of the circle Gyantse ( Gyantse ) in the district of Xigaze ( Shigatse ) in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.
