Randolph M. Bell

Randolph Marshall Bell ( born 1947 ) is an American diplomat.

Training

Randolph Bell graduated from the College of William & Mary and the University of Cambridge.

Diplomatic career

In 1972, he joined the Foreign Service of the United States. In the course of his first diplomatic activities he came to Frankfurt, Prague and Vienna. He completed his research of the Extended Eastern European Studies at the Foreign Service Institute and attended the National Defense University ( NDU ) in Washington. From 1984 to 1985 Bell was assigned to the Office of Defense, where he worked in the political affairs of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Between 1985 and 1988, was positioned as political and economic advisor in Prague, and from 1989 until 1993 as a political adviser in Brussels. 1993 to 1996 he headed the Department of Russian and Eurasian Affairs in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR).

Based on his work as head of the Office for the UK, Ireland and Benelux Affairs from 1996 to 1999 and head of Austria, Germany and Switzerland offices from 2000 to 2002, Bell was able to acquire an excellent knowledge of transatlantic relations.
