Randy Atcher

Randy Atcher ( born December 7, 1918 in Tip Top, Kentucky; † 9 October 2002 native Randall Atcher ) was an American country music singer and musician, who is the brother of the "Singing Cowboy " Bob Atcher.

Life

Childhood and youth

Randy Atcher was the fifth child of the family who moved into the Red River Valley shortly after his birth to North Dakota. He comes from a very musical family, his brother Bob later became a star of the WLS National Barn Dance. But when he was twelve years old, attracted Atcher and his family back to Kentucky.

Since he could play guitar and mandolin, he joined the radio station WHAS in Louisville, where he met the aspiring country musician Cliff Carlisle. After he graduated from high school, Atcher wanted to study at Western Kentucky State College, but through the flood that destroyed the house of Atchers, he had to stay home and build the house again. When the Second World War broke out, Atcher was drafted.

After his release, Atcher was already married to Daphne Atcher, he founded his first band, the Red River Ramblers. With his band, he got by chance a recording contract with MGM Records, and in 1950 he first appeared on the WHAS Old Kentucky Barn Dance.

Career

When the TV station WHAS - TV in 1951 first went on the air, Atcher got her own TV show, the first is for half an hour of broadcasting, was a great success. He also had two radio shows on his local radio station WHAS and was a member of, now on the CBS network and sent to air across America Old Kentucky Barn Dances. Besides, he published at the MGM Records countless plates.

His television show ran until 1970, the Kentucky Barn Dance, and his radio shows have been set up in advance. His record sales eased, although Atcher became still on public and committed himself to children. One of his last appearances was in WHAS - TV. His wife Daphne died in 1977, two years later he married again.

Randy Atcher died on 9 October 2002 at the age of 83 years.
