RAP (football club)

RAP is a former football club from Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

History

The club was founded on 14 November 1887. Clubs RUN, Amstels and Progress, where cricket was played, formed a football club with your respective initial letters, the RAP. In the season 1898/1899 the team won the first official Dutch Championship. Prior to four times in the years 1892, 1894, 1897 and 1898 won the Dutch championship, but is considered officially start the season 1898/1899. By winning the inaugural Telegraafbeker, a cup competition, in 1899, the club also secured directly the first double in the Netherlands. In the years 1911-1914 the relegation of the club began. Similarly bad it was in these years at the football club Volharding, also from Amsterdam. On September 5, 1914 these two clubs merged to become Volharding RAP Combinatie PRC, which again was, however, a club for cricket. The club is currently under the name of VRA and is a seven-time Dutch champion in cricket.
