Rășinari

Răşinari ( German townspeople village or Reschinar, Hungarian Resinár ) is a village in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

The village is located eight kilometers south-west of Sibiu ( Hermannstadt), at the foot of the Carpathians, and is part of the Marginimea Sibiului.

Traffic

Between Sibiu and Răşinari runs every day several times a tram, the Tursib. This line is due to the professional specialization of the inhabitants of the Marginimea Sibiului also lovingly called " cheese - Express".

Past and present

Emperor Joseph II, the same King of Hungary and Grand Prince of Transylvania, Răşinari declared in 1787 to free royal town. The town counted 5648 inhabitants in 2007. Sheep, wood processing and tourism are the main employment sectors.
