Raúl Rettig

Raúl Rettig Guissen ( born May 16, 1909 in Temuco, † April 30, 2000 in Santiago de Chile) was a Chilean politician and diplomat.

He was Senator from 1949 and under Allende Salvador Ambassador to Brazil. In the final phase of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, he was involved in the (illegal) political opposition. After the transition, he was Chairman of the Comisión de Verdad y Reconciliación nacional ( also known as the Rettig Commission), a Truth Commission for the Study of Human Rights.
