Räuschling

Räuschling is an ancient white grape variety that was prevalent earlier in eastern Switzerland, in Germany and in Alsace. The (formerly ) more acidic Räuschling mentioned drutsch already in 1550 by Hieronymus Bock under the name. A first mention of the word Reusch Ling is found in the Weingart order of Philipp Ernst (Hohenlohe -Langenburg ) for the year 1614. However, in recent decades it has been widely replaced by the more fertile and early maturing Müller- Thurgau.

Even today, existing regions ( a few hectares ) are found on Lake Zurich, on Cholfirst ( Uhwiesen, Benken and Flurlingen ) and in the north-eastern Switzerland. In 2007, a total of 22 hectares of vineyards were collected. In Germany we find the Räuschling on Abtsberg in cell Weiersbach in Offenburg.

This species must not be confused with the name of Knipperlé.
