Ray Bolger

Ray Bolger ( born January 10, 1904 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, † January 15, 1987 in Los Angeles, California; actually Raymond Wallace Bulcao ) was an American actor, singer and dancer.

Life and career

He began his career as one half of the duo "Sanford and Bolger ", which appeared on Broadway. Bolger's performances were a mix of dance, song and drama.

In 1936 he signed a contract with the film studio MGM and began to work as an actor. His first MGM role in the musical The Great Ziegfeld ( The Great Ziegfeld, 1936), where he played himself. In addition, he performed songs for the soundtracks of various films. His greatest commercial success as an actor, he celebrated in 1939 with a film version of The Wizard of Oz, in which he played the role of the Scarecrow. Then he refocused more on his career on Broadway and won several Tony Awards.

In the last years of his career, he took supporting roles in the television series The Partridge Family, The Love Boat, Little House and Battlestar Galactica.

On January 15, 1987, he succumbed to cancer. He was married from 1929 until his death. He was dedicated on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood two stars.

Ray Bolger was buried in the cemetery "Holy Cross Cemetery " in Culver City.
