Ray Cooney

Ray Cooney (* May 30, 1932 in London ) is an English author of contemporary comedy.

Life

1946 Cooney began acting and appeared in the 1950s and 1960s frequently in Brian Rix 's farces in Whitehall Theatre. During this time he worked as a co-author with on the comedy One for all ( One for the pot), which was premiered in 1961.

In 1983 he founded and headed the Theatre of Comedy Company in London. During this time he produced over 20 pieces, as Pygmalion with Peter O'Toole and John Thaw, Loot and lies have young legs ( Run For Your Wife).

His style is characterized by an absurd comedy.

His son Michael (born 1967 ) is also active as an author and director.
