Ray V. Pierce

Ray Vaughn Pierce ( born August 6 1840 in Stark, Herkimer County, New York, † February 4, 1914 at St. Vincent Iceland, Florida ) was an American politician. In 1879 and 1880 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ray Pierce attended both public and private schools. After a subsequent study medicine at the Eclectic Medical College in Cincinnati ( Ohio) and his 1862 was admitted as a doctor, he began in Titusville (Pennsylvania) to work in this profession. In 1867 he moved to Buffalo, New York, where he produced and sold drugs. He also founded the Invalids ' Hotel and Surgical Institute. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1877 and 1879 he sat in the Senate from New York.

In the congressional elections of 1878 Pierce was the 32nd electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Daniel N. Lockwood on March 4, 1879. This mandate he held until his resignation on 18 September 1880. The reason for his resignation is not known. His mandate was made after a special election to Jonathan Scoville.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Pierce worked as editor of the journal Medical Adviser In addition, he continues to put forth remedies. He died on 4 February 1914 on the island of St. Vincent Iceland, which belongs to Florida, and was buried in Buffalo.
