Raymond Bouchex

Raymond Joseph Louis Bouchex ( born January 25, 1927 in Lugrin, Haute -Savoie, France; † 9, 2010 in Avignon ) was an Archbishop of Avignon.

Life

Raymond Bouchex studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Annecy and received on 3 June 1950, the ordination. After further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and at the Institut Catholique de Lyon, he was awarded his doctorate in theology. He worked for the media work of Catholic Action and the Association catholique de la jeunesse française ( JIC ), in 1955 their national chaplain.

In 1962 he became professor of theology at the Seminary of Annecy and took over in 1965 the responsibility for the training of clergy.

1972 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Elvas and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Aix. He received his episcopal consecration on 19 March 1972, the Bishop of Annecy, Jean -Baptiste -Etienne Sauvage; Co-consecrators were Joseph Duval, Auxiliary Bishop of Rennes, and René -Alexandre Dupanloup, Auxiliary Bishop of Nice. He was 45 years, the youngest bishop in France.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 25 April 1978 Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Avignon. Within the French Bishops Conference, he was active in the Episcopal Commission for Consecrated Life, the board of the Commission for doctrinal studies, the Committee on pastoral and sacramental liturgy and the Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity.

His age-related resignation was accepted in 2002 by Pope John Paul II. He was still active in the hospital chaplaincy at the Centre Hospitalier ( CHS) in montfavet.
