Raymond Macherot

Raymond Macherot ( born March 30, 1924 in Verviers, † September 26, 2008 ) was a Belgian comic book writer and illustrator.

Life

Macherot began under the pseudonym " Zara " after the end of World War II with the drawing cartoons for the satirical weekly magazine Pan. In 1953 he joined the Tintin magazine, for which he initially created illustrations and drawings title. The following year, he developed the figure Anatol. In 1959, the figure Percy Pickwick a British secret agent in retirement. After three episodes of this figure Macherot decided to leave Tintin and switch to Spirou. The rights to Anatol and Percy Pickwick remained the publisher Le Lombard and both figures were added later by other artists again. For Spirou, he developed other characters like the cat and the mouse Chaminou Sibylline and worked, among others, along with René Goscinny, Raoul Cauvin, Yvan Delporte, and André Franquin. 1990 Macherot put to rest.
