Razamanaz

Occupation

Razamanaz is the title of the third studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth.

Album

" Razamanaz " was recorded in 1973 in Scotland at The transition Shut Studio and produced by Roger Glover, bassist of Deep Purple. In 1973 it was first released on the label B & C Moon Crest. It is the third record of the band. The artwork was done by Dave Field.

Formation

As Nazareth in 1972 played the opening act for Deep Purple, Roger Glover was impressed by the performance of the backing band. The compositions of the song material dates back to the end of 1972, when the title song " Razamanaz " was first already played at some concerts of the band. Nazareth itself were optimistic with the new songs, but their management was skeptical. Too little convincing the two LPs had been before, and it cost the band a lot of persuasion to procure the necessary budget for the photographic work. With a demo recording of the song " Broken Down Angel", however this was achieved, and the donors gave the green light. It was a 50-50 decision, because one of the two managers Derek Nicol, still doubted the usefulness of the material. The other, however, Bill Frehilly, invested the money in the band. " Razamanaz " was created and reached its release then also # 11 in the UK charts.

Singles

"Broken Down Angel" was coupled, often played in the BBC program, and came to England at # 7 The band started their tour in Lancaster, and even in the first week of the tour we paid a visit to the famous Top Of The Pops. Thereafter the number of ticket sales rose rapidly.

" Razamanaz " itself has been planned as a single release, but never appeared. Instead, the choice fell on the proffered with distinctive slide guitar "Bad, bad Boy". This single also contains the two previously unreleased pieces "hard living" and " Spinning Top " and reached number 10 on the charts in the United Kingdom.
