Rebekah Brooks

Rebekah Brooks (born Rebekah Mary Wade, born May 27, 1968 in Cheshire, England) is a British journalist.

Youth and Education

Rebekah Wade grew up as an only child in Daresbury, in North West England, on. She attended Appleton Hall County Grammar School, where she decided at age 14 to take up the profession of journalist. After A- levels, she moved to Paris, where she worked for the architectural magazine L'architecture d' aujourd'hui and is said to have studied at the Sorbonne. Back in England, she received by the friend of her father a secretarial position at the new magazine published by The Post Eddy Shah, which was later discontinued. Wade went at reporters in the teaching and worked as investigative journalist before she started as a secretary and later journalist at the tabloid News of the World.

Journalistic career

Wade fell on the chief editor Piers Morgan and was at 29 years old deputy editor of the tabloid The Sun. In 2000 she was promoted by Rupert Murdoch to the editor of News of the World. A position she held until 2003. From September 2009 to July 2011 led the now married Rebekah Brooks the newspaper publisher News International, which part of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch. Rebekah Brooks was the youngest British chief editor of all time and the Sun the first woman in that position.

News International scandal

In 2011 she came in the wake of the scandal over the interception of private telephone conversations by News of the World editors during her time as chief editor of the newspaper in the line of fire of public criticism. The newspaper was discontinued as a result of the hacking scandal in July 2011. On 15 July 2011 she resigned as CEO of News International and, after unconfirmed media reports, as it became known in October 2012, a settlement of more than seven million pounds ( 8.7 million euros ). This includes cash, pension payments, to aid lawyer bills and a car with driver.

On July 17, 2011, she was arrested by the British police and questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to interception of communications and corruption. A day later, she was released on bail. In a July 19, 2011 public and live televised hearing before a parliamentary committee Brooks, Rupert and James Murdoch apologized for the interception and corruption scandal. However, all three refused and denied an acceptance of responsibility to have known of the criminal operations.

On March 13, 2012 Rebekah Brooks was arrested along with her husband and four other people on suspicion of obstruction of justice. The next day she came, as all her arrested, released on bail.

On October 28, 2013, the trial of Brooks and seven other defendants began. The trial is scheduled for five months.

Private life

She was married (known from the soap opera EastEnders ), from 2002 to 2009 with the actor Ross Kemp. The end of 2009, she married Charlie Brooks and took his last name.
