Red Gorbatov (cattle)
The Gorbatower Rotvieh (Russian Kpacнaя гopбaтoвcкaя transcribed Krasnaya gorbatowskaja ) is a breed of cattle from Russia.
Breeding history
Beginning of the 19th century near the town Gorbatov ( Nizhny Novgorod Oblast ) was the local Priokski beef ( a variant of the Great Russian beef ) crossed with Tyrolean Grey cattle. Later, the breed became widespread in the oblasts Vladimir and Ivanovo and Chuvashia. Pure breeding is carried out in a circle Bogorodskij in the Gorky Oblast and in the circle Simenkij in Vladimir Oblast.

- Color red in many shades, some white spots on the udder and belly
- Strong constitution, balanced body
- Long, but lower body
- Good adaptation to local conditions
- Disease resistance to leucosis, tuberculosis and brucellosis
- Head rather short; Muzzle light pink; Horns white with black tips
- Neck medium long, broad; Chest deep and broad
- Straight back, broad loin region
- Croup slightly elevated, broad, not wedge-shaped

- Lightweight but strong skeleton

- Weight: 480 kg cows, bulls 750-850 kg
- Milk yield 4000 kg with 4.2 % fat
- Good meat quality
Relationship to other breeds
Genetic studies have shown a relationship Red Gorbatov - ox with the Latvian Brown cattle. This in turn is derived from, among others, the Red Danish dairy cattle and beef from anglers.
