Red Pollard

John "Red" Pollard M. ( born October 27, 1909 in Edmonton, Alberta, † March 7, 1981 in Pawtucket, Rhode Iceland ) was a Canadian jockey.

Although he was too big for a jockey and already blind at the beginning of his career as a result of a training accident on his right eye, he sat down by the sport.

In 1936 he was hired as a jockey for the horse Seabiscuit, which under him became the most successful racehorse of the time.

In February 1938 Pollard crashed heavily during a race. His horse fair Knightess buried him.
