Red Robin

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is an American fast food chain, which sells burgers. The chain has its headquarters in Greenwood Village. Red Robin were in December 2010 to 450 restaurants.

History

The original Red Robin standing on the corner of Furhman and Eastlake Avenues E. in Seattle, at the southern end of the University Bridge. The building dates from 1940 and was first called Sam's Tavern. The owner, Sam, sang in a barbershop quartet. His favorite song was When the Red, Red Robin ( Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin 'Along ). He liked the song so much that he eventually renamed the name to Sam's Red Robin.

In 1969, the local restaurant entrepreneur Gerry Ueberkingen bought the restaurant and expanded it. He let the Sam's accounts in the name and called the restaurant just Red Robin. The first restaurant was 110 m². It was a popular meeting place for students of the University of Washington. Ueberkingen led the restaurant continues as a tavern for a few years. Later he added Hamburger added to his menu.

In 1979, decided two Red Robin regulars, Michael and Steve Snyder, to open their own Red Robin Restaurant in Yakima. The Snyder Group Company was Red Robin's first franchisee. 1980 opened a restaurant in Portland. In 1983, the chain got a mascot named Red Two years later, in 1985, the company headquarters from Seattle was moved to the suburbs after Ueberkingen had moved to Denver and a majority stake in Red Robin Corp.. had sold to the Skylark Corporation. With marginal successes and poor financial performance under the Skylark management, returned in 1995 Ueberkingen, then a minority owner, back in the lead of Red Robin back. Together with Michael Snyder, he led the company back to profitability. In 2000 the company opened its 150th restaurant. Michael Snyder eventually took over as chairman, CEO and president of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, a newly formed company. Snyder started with the company in 2002 to the stock market. The company has its own 314 restaurants, 136 more restaurants are owned by franchisees. The company had a turnover of 846 million U.S. dollars in 2010.

The original Red Robin restaurant was closed on 21 March 2010 due to high maintenance costs.

Marketing

Beginning January 2013 it was announced that had to pay in a Red Robin restaurant for their food nothing a pregnant woman. Such kind of surprises are part of the corporate philosophy, in which the guests are to be made happy by unexpected gestures and special promotions. On the company's website a part of this unexpected gestures has been listed by guests.
