Refuge Dondénaz

The Rifugio Dondena is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian. It lies at an altitude of 2192 m on the Dondena Alta mentioned terrain within the community Champorcher. The lodge is run from mid-June to mid-September and offers at this time 80 climbers sleeps.

The refuge is located n.2 via della Val d' Aosta, on the trail Alta.

Increase

From Champorcher you take the car in the direction of the National Park Mont Avic. At the end of the infrastructure which ends up as a dirt road, there is a parking lot.

For the whole, no problems having path from the parking lot at Dondenaz to Rifugio Dondena are to be estimated about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can follow the trail Alta Via della Val d' Aosta n.2 from the village of Chardonney. From there the total walking time is 3 hours.

History

The Rifugio Dondena was opened in 1863 and served Victor Emmanuel II as a hunting lodge.
