Regions of Denmark

The region has been producing the municipal reform of 2007, the highest level of administrative divisions in Denmark; they correspond to the NUTS NUTS 2 Compared to the offices that existed before 2007, the tasks of the regions are limited, as with the municipal reform of 2007, the duties of the offices partially also the municipalities have been assigned. In particular, the regions have no independent right to tax more, but are funded by State Key assignments.

Remaining main tasks of the regions are:

  • Hospitals
  • Public health insurance ( reimbursement of treatment costs in domestic and specialists )
  • Psychiatry
  • Offers for disabled
  • Local Development Framework for the nature, the environment, education and culture. The practical implementation is the responsibility of local authorities.
