The Remembrance Drive is a main road in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales. It connects the Camden Bypass Camden South with the Hume Highway in Aylmerton. From 1928 to 1984 was on this stretch of the Hume Highway. Today this part of the Old Hume Highway is designated as State Road 89.

Course

In Camden South is the continuation of the Remembrance Drive Camden Bypass ( S89 ) to the south. After about 6 km, the road bends to the southwest and reached after a further 8 km, the city Picton, where from the east joins the Picton Road ( S88). About Tahmoor and Bargo the trail continues to the south.

3 km southeast of Bargo reached the Remembrance Drive the Hume Highway ( N31 ​​) and runs parallel to it by Yanderra and Yerrinbool until after Aylmerton. There he opens into the Hume Highway and ends.

History

The route is historic and has already served from time immemorial as the main link between Sydney and Melbourne. The first street on the Razorback Range was built in 1825 by groups of prisoners. 1830 was the road on the route today. Some sections of this road still exist today made ​​of concrete parts, which were installed in the 1920s and 1930s. The section on the Razorback Range is relatively steep. Between Picton and Bargo the road runs through Tahmoor and does not follow the even older Hume Highway through Thirlmere, Hill Top and Colo Vale.
