Rempang

Rempang ( indonesian Pulau Rempang ) is one of Indonesia's Riau Islands off the east coast of Sumatra in the Malay Archipelago.

Geography

Rempang is located north of Galang, west of Combol and Citlim and south of Batam and Bintan. The area of ​​the island covers 153.6 km ², with a coastline of 78.8 km. The highest elevation is 150 m.

Along with the neighboring islands, it forms the archipelago Barelang (abbreviated from Batam Rempang - Galang ).

The city is located in the north Airnanti, Sembulang in the southeast. Numerous small islands are deposited on especially on the north coast.

Traffic

Built in 1997 and 385 m long bridge connects Barelang Rempang with the southern Nachbatinsel Galang.

The road Il. Trans Barelang connects Rempang with the northern neighboring island of Batam on some road bridges to smaller islands: from Rempang after Setoko (365 m long) of Setoko by Nipah (270 m ) of Nipah after Tonton (420 m, 1997 completed ) and Tonton to Batam ( 644 m and also completed in 1997.

Rempang is reached by ferry in half an hour from Tanjung Pinang on Bintan.
