Rench Valley Railway

The Renchtal web is a 29.1 km long branch line from Appenweier to Bad Griesbach in the Black Forest, most of the course of the river Rench in the Black Forest follows with a maximum gradient of 1:99.

History

The first section between Appenweier and Oppenau opened on 1 June 1876, the Rench valley Railway Company, which was acquired by the Baden State Railways on 31 May 1909 which had led from the start to operate. The German State Railroad extended the web on November 28, 1926 to Bad Peterstal and May 23, 1933 to Bad Griesbach.

Since 1998, leads the Ortenau S -Bahn GmbH (OSB), a subsidiary of West German transport company ( SWEG ), public transport by what was previously the German Bahn AG responsible. The trains start in Offenburg and use to Appenweier the tracks of the Rhine Valley line.

In July 2006, still in charge of the track infrastructure DB Netz AG has taken an electronic interlocking in Oberkirch in operation, which controls the operation of Appenweier to Bad Griesbach. It is Germany's first electronic interlocking system of a new type, which is optimized on branch lines. The necessary investments amounted to 4.6 million euros.

Operation

The route will be operated in the direction of Bad Griesbach and toward open castle of 05:00 bis 21:00 clock clock.

For the total distance the OSB railcar 48 need to 50 minutes, according to the DB -Baden - Wuerttemberg- distance map ( which can be found in every train in Baden- Württemberg), the route will be operated until Oppenau hourly and to Bad Griesbach every two hours. Apart from the midday school transport and late evening but there are no daytime ending in Oppenau trains. For the usual symmetry minutes just before the half hour the train crossings take place here. On weekdays the trains to Bad Griesbach to the exceptions at 06:00 clock at 10:00 clock to 13:00 clock (only to Oppenau ) every hour towards Offenburg to the exceptions at 11:00 clock to 13:00 clock hourly (only from Oppenau ). The average speed is about 44 to 46 kilometers per hour.
