Renée Schuurman

Renee Schuurman ( born October 26, 1939 in Durban, South Africa, † May 2001 Howick ) was a South African tennis player, five -time winner of a Grand Slam doubles title, as well as a mixed- title.

Life

Renee Schuurman won four Grand Slam doubles title with the South African Sandra Reynolds Price. They won in 1959 at the Australian Open and in the years 1959, 1961 and 1962 at the French Open. Schuurmann still won together with the Briton Ann Haydon -Jones at the French Open in 1963.

Together with the Australian Robert Howe she took the title in the mixed doubles at the French Championships in 1962. Beat your best score in individual competition was reaching the final at the Australian Championships in 1959, where they face the Australian Mary Carter Reitano 2:6, 3:6 lost.

After her marriage she was called Renee Schuurman Haygarth. Her sons Brent Haygarth and Kirk Haygarth were also successful doubles player.

Schuurman died in May 2001 at the age of 61 years to cancer.
