Renée Stobrawa

Renée Stobrawa ( born October 13, 1897 in Dresden, † August 16 1971 in Tegernsee; native Renate Stobrawa ) was a German actress and screenwriter.

Life and work

Stobrawa took after Oberlyzeum acting classes with Louise Dumont and received her first engagement in 1919 at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. Subsequently, she appeared in Frankfurt and came to Berlin in 1925.

Here they played at the Kroll Opera House and from 1934 at the Volksbühne. Slowly, she also found access to the world of the film. Since the mid- 30s she stood in small to medium sized rollers regularly before the camera. With her husband Fritz Genschow she founded in Berlin in 1930 a fairy tale theater, which she also directed.

In addition, she continued to play to classic theaters and celebrated in 1947 at the Schlossparktheater a success as a woman in the stage play The John rats. In the cinema she was seen in the 50 years in fairy tale films that produced Genschow and in which they co-wrote the screenplay.
