Renfrew (Pennsylvania)

Renfrew is a village on the Connoquenessing Creek in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1882 by David A. Renfrew on its own grounds. Shortly after oil was found in the area of the village, so the village was quite lively. There were, among others, a gas station, a post office and several shops. The shops are now empty, only the Methodist Church is actively used. In September 2004, Hurricane Ivan put spurs of the village under water.

Renfrew is served by two railway lines. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad uses of the Pittsburgh and Western Railroad (later the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ) established route from Pittsburgh on Butler to Foxburg. The Canadian National Railway uses the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad main line between Lake Erie and North Bessemer. The breakpoints on both routes were shut down for some time.

The Interurban Pittsburgh, Mars and Butler Railway connected the town with Pittsburgh and Butler.
