Reno 911! is an American comedy that aired from 2003 to 2009 on the American station Comedy Central.

Reno 911! is an American comedy series which parodies the series COPS. It shows the exaggerated everyday life as a police officer in Reno (Nevada ). The series gives the impression that it would be a reality show by would accompany the daily lives of police officers. But all the scenes are staged in, not even the Washoe County Sheriff's Department exists in reality. The group of the Reno Sheriff 's Department consists of seven police officers who have mainly to do with racism, drug offenses and the crazy people who live in Reno. These crazy people heard, for example, Gary, a member of the Ku Klux Klan, which, however, rather see themselves as victims. For example, in one episode his Klantreffpunkt smeared ( " Klux " was in " Sux " changed ) and he claims that this is only happening because someone does not like his skin color.
Background
In 2001 Reno became 911! developed for the American FOX network, but to a production it should never come. Comedy Central had little interest in the series and later bought the rights to, so could go in 2003 in the United States on the air the show.
The enormous success of the first season in the United States made the German channel kabel eins attention. This radiated between May and July 2004, the first season of, but with relatively low ratings, which ultimately was due to the late time slot. In the U.S. ran from 1 April 2009 to 8 July 2009, the sixth and final season. On 13 August 2009, Thomas Lennon announced via Twitter the end of the series.
Since January 2007, Comedy Central owns the rights to the series in Germany and pointed to July 2007 Season 1 to 3 on German television. There is also a German adaptation, which copied the style of the series. It runs under the name all right.
Reno 911: Miami
On February 23 was released in 2007 in the USA the first movie of the series, " Reno 911: Miami ." In the film it comes to that officers from Reno to a police convention in Miami. Ironically, in the spring break where the students just want to enjoy themselves. The film made it on its opening weekend at number 4 on the U.S. box office charts and played a total of 21.8 million U.S. dollars with a budget of 10 million U.S. dollars.
In Germany the film was released on 17 December 2007 on DVD.
