The farm was initially green Damnitz called. The later city name Schönbrunn " is said to have given the farm a prince who was revived after a long ride there from the farmer with a fresh drink from the fountain ."

Prior to 1945, Schönbrunn formed a dwelling-place in the community and belonged Damnitz with this for Pomerania the Prussian province of Pomerania.
