Rere is a small town in the interior of the Gisborne region in the northeast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located at the headwaters of Wharekopae River in a remote area in the foothills of Huiarau Range.

The place is known in Gisborne for a 60 m long natural water slide.

Rere has a small primary school with a decile rating of 9 and 22 students (01 /2009).

In Rere are smaller waterfalls, the Rere Falls. About 6 km to the west on the road to Gisborne is the East Hill Arboretum.
