Rethera afghanistana

Rethera afghanistana is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of moth ( Sphingidae ).

Features

The moths have a wingspan of 46-51 millimeters, and are slightly larger than the similar style Rethera brandti. You have otherwise just on the fore wings a brighter outer and inner edge and a distinctive bright fascia that extends centrally across the wings.

Occurrence and life

The species was discovered in Herat in western Afghanistan. It is distributed over most of Afghanistan and also at Kodschak Pass ( Khonjuk Pass ) 80 km northwest of Quetta in Pakistan proved. You will probably also in Iran. Rethera afghanistana occurs 1000-2100 meters at sea level. About the populated habitats is not known. The species probably flies in one generation to mid-April (Herat ) and the end of May (Kabul ). Is about the further life, as well as on the preimaginal stages and parasitoids, nothing is known.
