Rezső Bálint (physician)

Rezső Bálint ( born October 22, 1874 in Budapest, † May 23, 1929 ) was an Austro- Hungarian neurologist and psychiatrist. According to him, the Bálint 's syndrome was named.

Life

Rezsö Bálint worked a lifetime in Budapest ( until 1918 Austria - Hungary). He studied medicine, in 1897 was awarded the doctorate degrees and worked as a student of Friedrich von Korányi ( 1828-1913 ). After he was habilitated in 1910, he received in 1914 only an extraordinary and finally a full professorship.

Services

From Rezsö Bálint originate fundamental studies of the pathology of the autonomic nervous system and the pathogenesis of gastric ulcer by gastric hyperacidity.

He is the first to describe a neurological syndrome named after him, of Bálint syndrome (spatial attention span, inability targeted pursuit movements with his eyes, inability targeted and controlled by the eye - hand movements).
