Rhythms of Resistance

Rhythms of Resistance or short RoR is a network of political groups drum and samba bands, support the demonstrations or direct actions.

History

Rhythms of Resistance sees himself in the tradition of African- block drum groups that emerged in the 1970s in Brazil. This developed from the poorest parts of the city and became a movement of resistance and a source of self-confidence, which has been commercialized by the sprouting from the ground Samba schools worldwide. The Rhythms of Resistance groups are often referred to as samba bands, what the effect is an imprecise concept that different rhythms are rehearsed.

This music combined with dancers and the concept of " tactical frivolity " formed the basis for an action plan, the World Bank Summit 2000 for the first time took place during the IMF / big application in Prague: Pink & Silver. The aim of the group is self - and foreign - empowerment and representation of creative and public -place protest.

Inspired by this since bands throughout Europe and beyond have developed and networked.
