Richard Arlen

Richard Arlen ( born September 1, 1900 in Charlottesville, Virginia; † March 29, 1976 in Hollywood, California; native Cornelius Richard Van Mattimore ) was an American actor, who has worked on more than 150 productions.

Life

Prior to his career in the film business, he served in World War II as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Flying Corps. He played his first role in 1921 in the film Ladies Must Live, uncredited, he was not called. He appeared in numerous silent films, including three directed by William A. Wellman, but managed to be active even in the period of the sound film as an actor. In the 1950s and 1960s he appeared several times on television.

Richard Arlen was married three times. From the marriage with the actress Jobyna Ralston in the years 1927-1943 comes a son.

In his honor, there is a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is on the Holy Cross Cemetery buried in the California city Culver City.
