Richard Buchta

Richard Buchta ( born January 19, 1845 in Radlow (Galicia ); † July 29, 1894 in Vienna ) was an Austrian explorer.

Life

Already with 20 years Buchta began to travel extensively through Germany, France, Hungary, the lower Danube countries, the Balkans, Turkey and Asia Minor. Among other things, he stayed a year in Constantinople Opel ( now Istanbul ) and later three years in Cairo. From there he traveled to the area of Khartoum and came back with the help of the Governor General Gordon Pasha after Ladó on the Upper Nile. Here he was a guest of Emin Pasha. Buchta subsequently traveled as a draftsman and photographer in the neighboring countries ( 1878-1880 ).

He returned a short time back to Europe, then went back to Egypt in 1885 on trips. Among other places, he traveled to the desert to the Faiyum.

Since 1886, Richard Buchta lived in Vienna, where he died on July 29, 1894 at the age of 49 years.
