Richard Byrd (athlete)

Richard Byrd ( Richard Leslie " Dick" Byrd, born May 16, 1892 in Shiloh, Boundary County, Idaho, † June 20, 1958 ) was an American track and field athlete.

In the discus throw the Summer Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he won silver. He suggested having a width of 42.32 m his compatriot James Duncan ( 42.28 m), who had recently set up with 47.58 m world record, but remained nearly three meters behind the victorious Finns Armas Taipale ( 45.21 m ). In the state high jump Byrd finished fourth in the standing long jump of eight, and two-handed discus throw he came on the 17th Place.

In 1919 he won silver in the discus throw of the Inter - Allied Games.
