Richard Delvy

Richard Delvy ( born April 20, 1942 † 6 February 2010) was an American surf music drummer, producer and music publisher. He was a pioneer in the genre of surf rock.

Career

Delvys first band as a drummer were The Belairs. With their guitarist Jim Roberts, he founded The Challengers. With his band, he released 15 albums. His shrewd business sense, he proved as a publisher with Miraleste Music: So he acquired the rights to the surf classic Mr. Moto, he with the Challengers also grossed as Mr. Moto 65 itself. However, his biggest coup was the acquisition of songwriting credits for Wipe Out, which he marketed together with producer colleague John Marascalco. He operated under his name a company with several record labels, including Triumph Records and Princess Records. As a producer Delvy works in the fields of Hot Rod, folk, rock and psychedelic rock. Tony Orlando and David Cassidy, he acted as musical director on their concert tours.
