Tony Orlando

Tony Orlando ( born April 3, 1944 in New York; actually Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis ) is an American singer in the 1970s, especially in the trio Dawn had worldwide success.

1960 Orlando studied at the School of Aviation in Queens. There were discovered his singing skills rather random. He got a record deal and released in 1961 the first single Halfway to Paradise, which reached number 39 on the U.S. charts. The next single Bless You reached # 15 and arrived in the UK reaching number 5

In 1970, he took with the two singers Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent, a demo tape under the name Dawn. The produced single Candida was a million success. Under changing band name followed by four more million-seller until the formation broke up in the late 1970s.

2012 Orlando played in the film That's My Boy (orig. That's My Boy) a minor role.
