Richard Drakeford

Richard Drakeford (* November 5, 1936, † 12 November 2009) was a British composer of classical music.

Life

Drakeford studied composition with Herbert Howells and Edmund Rubbra and studied at Worcester College, Oxford.

From 1961 to 1985, he taught music at the Harrow School.

He was co-founder of the Little Missenden Festival, where he worked until his death as a musical consultant. From 1995 on, he reported at irregular intervals for the British magazine Musical Times of the International Handel Festival in Göttingen.
