Richard Garcia

Richard Garcia ( born September 4, 1981 in Perth ) is an Australian football player at the position of the striker.

Career

Garcia began his professional career at West Ham United, after he had visited there the youth academy for several years. During his youth at West Ham, he won in the 1998/1999 season with the junior team the FA Youth Cup and the FA Premier Youth League. In this team, he played alongside future stars such as Joe Cole and Michael Carrick. Garcia this season was one of the few players who came in each round to use and always played. In August 1999, Garcia signed a professional contract with West Ham United. In August 2000, he was at Leyton Orient on loan to get more match practice. However, he had to return to West Ham because of a knee injury in November 2000. His first professional game for West Ham he played in the League Cup in September 2001 against FC Reading. He managed, however, durable and non- enforce the team, which is why he mostly had to take on the role of reservists. After West Ham 2003, the resurfacing Stieg succeeded in the first division, Garcia got some more playing time, but a regular place was far away. Because of only 16 missions, he finally moved to Colchester United.

Colchester United

Garcia signed in September 2004 at Colchester and was in the same month his debut against Swindon Town. Overall, he brought it to 30 appearances in the 2004/05 season, where he was able to achieve six goals. In the following season, Garcia has played an important role in the team, with his help, managed by Colchester second place in Football League One in the Football League Championship ascend. In the FA Cup fifth round is reached, where, however, the eventual winner, Chelsea failed. Colchester dominated the game and it was the winning goal closer than Chelsea, but a cross from Ricardo Carvalho Garcia was intercepted and from there he was undisturbed by the goalkeeper passed the ball into the net scoop (the game finally ended 3-1 ). In March 2006, the season for Garcia came to an end following a new knee injury. At the end of the season Garcia signed a new contract with Colchester United. In the season 2006/ 07 he came in 36 games in which he scored seven goals.

Hull City

Instead of a new contract with Colchester to sign, he signed on 2 July 2007 a three-year contract with Hull City and joined a free transfer to the then second division. His debut for Hull he gave in August 2007 against Plymouth Argyle and his first goal came in the next game in the 3-0 away win against Crewe Alexandra. In the 2007 /08 season he played a leading role in the team of Hull City, but he was thrown back by a shoulder injury. His comeback he gave the play-off victory over Bristol City in May 2008, which his team rose to the Premier League. His first game for Hull City in the Premier League, he played on 18 August against Fulham, where he excelled on his winger position.

Internationally

In April 2008, he said in an interview with the Australian newspaper Herald Sun that his goal was to play in the Sooceroos, the Australian national football team, and that the games in the Premier League with Hull City to help him to realize this dream. On 19 August 2008 he finally made his international debut when he came off the bench for the second half. The match against South Africa in London finally ended 2:2.
