Richard Golz

Richard Golz ( born June 5, 1968 in Berlin ) is a former German football goalkeeper, who now works as a coach.

Career as a player

Association

Golz began his career at Wacker 04 Berlin. From 1975 to 1979 and from 1981 to 1983 he played for this club, from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1985, he worked for the SC Tegel. In 1985 he moved to Hamburger SV. His debut in the Bundesliga he celebrated on 1 August 1987 for HSV during play against Schalke 04, which ended 5-2. Golz pushed the controversial Yugoslav goalkeeper Mladen Pralija. He made his high school, like many other HSV young players at the high school Heidberg in Hamburg- Long Horn. In the season 1994/95 he was the grown goalkeeper Uli Stein displace. Was he attracted particular attention in the 1995/96 season, in Golz due to an injury crisis of HSV as " Einwechsel striker " is inserted ( the goalkeeper came off the bench for a striker and Golz changed positions ). After a few errors (eg, in a duel against city rivals FC St. Pauli ) Golz was in the 1997/98 season, replaced by Hans -Jörg Butt.

Golz joined 1998 SC Freiburg. Here he experienced after the UEFA Cup participation in 2001 a relegation from the Bundesliga in 2002, a rise in 2003 and a renewed decline in 2005. During the season 2005/ 06 Golz played as goalkeeper for Alexander Walke six second division games. For the fans of the SCF Golz attained cult status. When he entered the field of play, he was received with frenetic " Richie, Richie" calls. For years he was one of the favorite players of fans and was even 2000 athlete of the year the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. Golz was at SC Freiburg promised a job in the marketing department, but left the club and moved to Hannover 96 in his last two years as a substitute goalkeeper, he was there but no longer a league use. After the 2007/ 08 season, he finished his career.

National

Golz came in the years 1989 and 1990 to a total of six missions in the German U21 national team.

Career as a coach

From the 2008/ 09 season to the 2012/13 season was Richard Golz goalkeeper and assistant coach of the second team of Hamburger SV. From the 2013/14 season, he takes over the position of Christian Fiedler as goalkeeper coach of the first Bundesliga club Hertha BSC.
