Richard Mansfield

Richard Mansfield ( born May 24, 1857 in Berlin, † 30 August 1907 in New London (Connecticut) ) was a German - British actor who consider a large part of his career in the United States. Mansfield was known especially for his character roles in numerous plays of the late 19th century.

Life

Mansfield spent his childhood on Heligoland, which was then at under English rule. His mother, his father Maurice Mansfield was the opera soprano Erminia rowing Dorff (1822-1882), († 1861), a British wine merchant. Mansfield was famous for his double role in T. Russell Sullivan theater performance The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson. Mansfield played the two characters Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde so good that some viewers for his performance not played but really stopped and Mansfield suspected to be the same time in London murderous serial killer Jack The Ripper.
