Richard McPartland

George Richard "Dick" McPartland ( born May 18, 1905 in Chicago, † November 30, 1957 in Elmhurst, Illinois) was an American guitarist, violinist and banjo player of the Chicago jazz.

Richard McPartland learned from his father the violin and was, like his younger brother Jimmy McPartland Member of the Austin High School Gang, the nucleus of the white Chicago jazz. Mid-1920s, he went with the " Mound City Blowers " by Red McKenzie, where he replaced Eddie Long, on tour. In the early 1930s he was the professional musical career for health reasons ( a heart attack) and worked as a taxi driver. He played only occasionally, as with his brother when shooting in 1936 and 1939 and most recently in 1955 with his brother ( and Baby Dodds, Jim Lanigan ). In 1928 he took up with Irving Mills and 1929 with Jack Teagarden. He made no recordings under his own name.
