Richard Mellon Scaife

Richard Mellon Scaife ( born July 3, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American billionaire and media entrepreneur. With a fortune of 1.2 billion U.S. dollars, he is, according to Forbes list of 2006, the 322- richest person in the United States.

Life

His fortune comes mainly from the Aluminium Corporation of America ( Alcoa), the oil company Gulf Oil, coal, steel, and copper groups, from the Mellon National Bank of Pittsburgh and other banks and trusts.

Scaife is known for its financial support of conservative political organizations over the past four decades. He also helped in the financing of the Arkansas Project, which eventually led to the impeachment of U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Scaife was married twice, his first wife, Frances L. Gilmore and his second wife, Margaret " Ritchie " Battle. He is divorced and has two children.
