Richard Roundtree
Richard Roundtree ( born July 9, 1942 in New Rochelle ) is an African-American film actor who is best known for his role as detective John Shaft in the blaxploitation film Shaft ( 1971) and the two sequels.
Life
Roundtree was one of the main actors of this genre in the 1970s. Before he began his career as an actor, he worked as a model. Following the success of the Shaft series his other films were up to the beginning of the 1990s, not very successfully. From the early 90s, he was due to his past film to a film icon. This he also played again in successful films such as David Fincher's Seven and the film Shaft - Any questions, in which he recorded his role as John Shaft again, but this time in a supporting role, as the story revolves around Shafts nephew? . In 2002 he portrayed Jack Blackburn in the movie Joe & Max
At Richard Roundtree in 1993, breast cancer was diagnosed, so he had to undergo in the years that followed a lengthy but successful treatment.
